Lost Connections

How far have we come from our roots?

We can’t go back. But, we can’t recreate ourselves.

There are all kinds of benefits to progress and industrialisation. Trouble is, as we progress we forget the benefits of what we’ve lost. Instead of combining progress, we’re trying to hold on to what was best about some of the old ways. Without our true connections to life, this so-called progress has created solutions that are meant to make our life easy 'Short Cuts' that have a cost to humanity. We threw everything out and recreated ourselves, making ourselves sick. The Western culture does not meet people's needs, so people adapt artificially. Suppressing the problem deep inside ourselves to cope with modern life. Living in a Western society promotes distractions and addictions as a coping mechanism to get through each day from the trauma we are putting ourselves through, believing this is how we are supposed to live - The Rat Race… A slave to the system.
Every man is looking for true connection. You may like to Read: Detoxing from the trappings of the modern world >

To transition we first need to remove the added stress. We can ditch the sofa, TV and phone and go have an experience in nature, on your own or with your family and enjoy each moment. Use this time to take a step back, imagine and focus on the future; Consciously look for the good and how you like to see the world. Humanity is now understanding once again how we can evolve by working together, for all of humanity... Knowing life is ongoing - The joy of life, we are all connected to this great world. "You will know the truth and it will liberate you" - Jesus

Wealth lies in communities and how you are connected. And not a race to get rich quick at the cost to someone else. The well-being of one affects everyone, or the outcome of modern progress becomes greed and selfishness, not how humanity is supposed to live - The stresses of the modern Westernised world we believe is normal...

Detaching from the rate race and getting in the zone
Lost Traditions is for those who want to step out of the rat race by focusing on the experience, and not on buying material stuff of no value and chasing money - 'Not selling your dreams for small desires' Or at least be on the right path and appreciate our awesome planet.
Trusting in your intuition to connect deeply within yourself, by not losing the spirit for adventure... The goal in life is to gain joy, happiness, confidence and peace. - Grow and gain trust in your own self; As you start your journey the way appears.

"Be of the mind; when you come to a place, you want to feel that you are really there, live it a little bit like a local. Wander around and feel you are discovering the country for the first time" - DBC Pierre

Hi!
Hi! I'm Martin, an independent business owner, who can take time off whenever I want and travel for as long as I like. And so can you...It does not have to be travel, you can take time out to do anything you want. Travel is my medicine and I am passionate about seeing the real world, by experiencing family stays, meeting the locals, hiking mountains, visiting villages, discovering traditions, and trying culinary dishes. These travel encounters excite me and I am always game for more.

Living in The Rat Race always felt so limiting.
Something deeper at play... I have a desire to know more, to connect to something more meaningful. A hunger to love and grow - The wandering lust... There is a big wonderful world begging to be explored...

Inspired by travel...
and everything connected to it; nature, people, food, villages, music, a love of the outdoors and nomadic lifestyles. I got my inspiration and life experiences from travelling the world, where people do not get income support in the non-western countries. People get resourceful when they need to.

The native people you meet when travelling the world are incredible, they are poor with little money, but rich in life. You notice they have time to make you feel welcome, have spontaneous smiles, are strong to get on with life, are not lazy, cook the best food, are happy with what they have, and don't want to profit from you.

Have the courage to travel - Leap of faith.

Travel has motivated me to help others in a small way, everyday. - A liberating feeling.

"A spiritual person will do what's right… no matter what he is told." - Must Be Good

These days it's become hard to find your way in life. We have become rich, but poor in spirit. "The happiness of one person, depends on the happiness of all." - This is how an awakened being see's the world.

To empower individual purpose and to inspire a meaningful healthy life, to do what's right for humanity.
To understand there is an alternative to a life that allows us to focus on our path and do the best we can.
Learning all the best possible things we can do to stay healthy and together we can create a better story by living from our hearts and everything is possible. Invest in our skills, to give more than we receive and what we find enjoyment in to be used to build a better society, put hope into people, and feel we are loved by everyone.

Hold on to books and Blog Posts. Is a record of what happened - Or society forgets:
  • Everyone is welcome to get in contact and come along for the ride. Walks, Hiking, kayaking, cycling & cooking on an open fire - How life is supposed to be.
  • Survival, our life skills & not promoting fear - Every convenience, is a loss of a life skill. Endure life and not consume a life of comfort; The real reward is in the time and energy of struggling to achieve your goals.
  • Detoxing from the trappings of the modern world and putting the joy back into our life - Rich in life.
  • Supporting small local businesses.
  • Ecotourism; Keeping a community existing, with linking small businesses with tourists and opening up society by meeting the locals.
  • Learning, is first unlearning. (To unpack the false information)
  • The plan, is to have no fixed plan. To flow as life flows.
  • Going in the opposite direction to what society is telling me. (Doing what's right)
  • Building communities
  • Build, Back, Different - The new economy will be handmade. Opportunities for people to exist, be independent and contribute to communities. Our livelihoods, to put soul back into our society.
  • Keep it simple - Live minimal to enjoy life. "Not being attached to money, and being minimalist".
  • Growing my own and building the urban garden.
  • Not having a TV and watching very little news. Become aware of what's fake and real. 'The Real Value' Heart & Sole.
  • Wellbeing is the most significant asset  - I drink very little alcohol, I don't want to compromise my recovery and health... Be accountable, be willing to say no to fast-food or face the consequences.
  • Book and join a local experience.
  • The undeveloped world is real life. The Economics of Happiness.
  • My most valuable assets; Wellbeing and to have the time to breakaway. Look after your health - Paramount. Money can look after itself and time waits for no one. Life is an adventure... Go for it today.
  • Removing limitations to what life has to offer.
  • Eating food from around the world, for an experience of different cultures.
  • Cultures from around the world "Only the indigenous were fully connected until the Western world got there"
  • Traditional values. While life constantly evolves and we lose our Traditions, we also lose our way in life. We become detached from reality. Having less things and less money means more time to live and experience the good and bad each day and the time to reflect on it.

Universal law - There are no short-cuts to where you are heading....

Go, and hike a mountain. There are so many life experiences out there to help you make the being you are.

News Letter

Whilst I have been fortunate to have travelled around the world, volunteering and using my skills to help others. That gave me the opportunity to live like a local, a beautiful experience. And it gave me the ability to see what's going on in our world and now it's time for me to give back to society. I had the opportunity and now I am travelling in a good direction, where people need opportunities to exist and not handouts.

Blog Posts
I am sharing within the Travel Posts, a link to the independent coffee stops and farm shops that I have enjoyed, based on location, service, food cooked with love, uniqueness and instant good feeling that you can also enjoy. Other Posts are giving inspirations to what life is about.

Over 30 Years of Travel
I first visited France back in 1992 aged 24, this was my first experience of European culture and I wondered why I had missed out on this wonderful lifestyle, up to that point. I just wanted to see more of the World, where people are enjoying life to the fullest, where mealtimes become the important time of the day. Enjoying a fine glass of wine in a small bar in a beautiful location, that is full of history, is so good for the soul. Back then, fast-food was difficult to find (Foods were cooked with red meat, duck fat, butter and cream. The good stuff.) The French had none to very low heart disease and diabetes from their diet and lifestyle. Now, they are no different from any other Western country eating fast and packaged foods made with poor oils/fat and sugar. The French showed us, cooking does not need to be boring and eating good fats are not only tasty, but healthy.

Travel highlights
I have volunteered on a Kibbutz in Israel, which opened my eyes by experiencing many places and I saw some of the local difficulties. I have also engaged in organic farm work as a volunteer (commonly known as WWOOF'ing) in New Zealand and Spain. In my early 30's I have been fortunate to travel twice around the world, with 6 stops in both directions. I have driven around the outback of Australia twice, over 5 road trips across Europe, 3 of those in a converted campervan, mostly exploring rural and remote parts of Spain. Living off local produce as I go. From my Late 30's I have backpacked across Mexico & Guatemala 3 times and many miles on the Chicken bus. I have been to Cuba 5 times and on one occasion backpacked with my daughter, who has also travelled with me in Mexico, Guatemala and Colombia, with many miles using local transport. In my 40's I lived and worked in Colombia and sold coffee to small businesses there, to help support a family I was living with. That all started, with a close connection to a Colombian family in the UK, when I first visited Colombia, solo travelling in Central America and staying with the large family there. And after returning a few more times, I soon ended up living there. The family from the UK visited Colombia at the same time and I surprised them. Now we have good memories, they have grown very close to my heart and we often do Colombian cooking and have parties like they do In Colombia and everyone is welcome with enough food to feed with no one going hungry. Plus we have taken the campervan to France and had a great time cooking our way across France. I have also visited Bolivia (With my Bolivian friend Juan, who first came to England when I was 8 years old. A great way to see his country, staying with his family, gave me a great insight) Peru, Fiji, Hawaii, Thailand and Singapore. I have been fortunate to have met many interesting people from all over the world, where I have learnt local traditions and methods. Made great long-term friendship with locals and other travellers, whilst on the road and living like a local.

Travelers Retreat
You are warmly invited to join

Build a retreat, creating a good vibe and to enhance your life.
A place to detox from modern society and get back to what's really important. While I am living each day, running a business, and doing the things I enjoy, I am being pulled to build a retreat and live a quieter experience, with financial freedom, by living simply. A place where all people can come and stay, learn how to cook healthy, from the foods I grow or collect from the local market. Help each other and exchange products or skills.

Feel alive
Strength and endurance are meaningless, unless you can put them to a good use, a practical use like going on grand adventures, getting out of your comfort zone that lets you know that you're really living.

The balance of keeping Dreams to Yourself
These are some of my ideas. I aim to create and build a retreat that will continue to grow to a place for those who can be their true selves. I have only told a few people, mainly like-minded people I have met while travelling. This is because people like to give their opinion that could influence my true and pure desires. Then I am creating and focusing without the influence from other people, that comes from inside of me and not people projecting their own fear on me. Trust in myself. So, I will listen to myself and let the results speak for me. "Nobody but you, knows what's best for you" You are the creator of your own life.

My general plan and intentions is to make a place to share ideas & skills in exchange for all to gain from. At some point, long distance travelling may come to an end for me, but who knows. People are welcome from everywhere and can share their stories with me...

Self care to grow and change... The personal self development - Get away, find clarity and gain confidence to be your true self to live the life you want:
  • Build a tiny home/earthship with recycled material and local produce, at low cost and ‘low carbon’ Homesteading and how to live off the land.
  • Not only healthy cooking but using the produce that is in season and making local dishes with nothing going to waste and everyone getting evolved. To enjoy eating around a large table, in a peaceful location and talk about anything.
  • Learning the benefits of organic food over manufactured and the fast food, that has become the main meal for those who don't seem to have time.
  • A type of boot-camp. Hiking, followed by a cold shower and building a campfire, to cook on and sit around and chat. Meaningful conversations, knowing where and what food to buy, how to cook the basics and how not to waste and quiet moments in nature.
  • Crafts and handmade workshop. Cooking School and so much more.
  • Build a spiritual community. Detox - By offering hiking, village visits, and time to completely relax in the garden or in a chill-out room/place.
  • Communal area, with maps, books for local info and world travel to plan the next adventure.
  • Principles like kindness, respect, give more than you receive and simple living, are at the heart of spiritual living.
  • Healing retreat - Relearning what is important to those who have been busy working and want to get their life back on track. Learning some basic skills that can then be put into practice when returned home.
  • Exchange - ideas, stories, interests, skills and knowledge. Share food and volunteer.

Gatherings across the UK.
Until the retreat is built, come along for the ride. Mini adventures, to discover mountains, wild places & culinary dishes.  Sign-up & don't miss any of our trips.
Cultivate love & keep evolving...

Preserving Our Culture. "The Traditional Way" One step at a time. - May your Boots make happy tracks...
Step outside - Life is as it is, a journey of experiences and not a destination... First you need to take a step back to reflect, to understand what we need to detach from, that's stopping you getting ahead, to awaken your inner powers.
It's ongoing, one step at a time and we have mountains to climb, to view the world from above and have the fitness to keep going till we die. - To teach us the results come from the effort put in and not taking short-cuts at the cost to others.
While we are always learning as we grow, it is to understand that we are just passing through and to leave the place so the next generation can enjoy - The planet is for everyone.

Divided we fall and united we prosper - Don’t take sides, we are all human.
My whole purpose of this website is to unite people and not divide people. We can share ideas and information to unify people in a direction forward to benefit humanity, instead of creating more division - Stop thinking dichotomously.

"We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." - Elie Wiesel, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

To the extraordinary people who have had a positive impact in my life... Stay well and enjoy every day.

Made with Soul: "There is a connection in learning traditional skills, from the craftsmanship that has slowly passed from generation to generation. A peacefulness in spending hours creating and working with your hands." - You understand the value of someone being immersed in creativity, individuality and the positive energy that drives real meaning to life.

Fixing stuff is one of the most rewarding things.. Like art or music.. It feels right. - Spiritual experience.

Mission

To have a place for people to come together, to detox, restore our wellbeing from the pressures modern society puts on us, to be our true selves. Build a whole new reality, by being open to the world, because there is so much more to learn about life and realise we are not separated from nature. Yet, we are part of it, which makes us feel more peaceful and truly free with ourselves and the world.
