Ghetto Fix | The Cuban Life

martin wilkins • October 17, 2021

A make do and mend attitude as hard times create strong people.

How come they can ride with two people on one bike with no gears and a heavy frame, but we need an electric motor?

It's their normal part of life and they know how to live.

"Freedom of riding a bike that gives independence in return for effort put in"

We can learn from the Cuba, when it comes to living with hyperinflation and shortages of food and goods.
The world crisis we are all going through, will bring suffering and hard-times. This will bring a brilliant opportunity, from a good kick up the back-side to get people to work and build a better life. As we become in-tune with what's really important, as we will not be able to rely on the healthcare system, people will have no choice but to start to take care of themselves. Things will get better, but not the same as before, we will see less plastic rubbish being brought from China and more quality goods made locally. A hard time will mean courage, as people will come together and start caring for each other, as they will have no choice but to make it work to survive.

Nothing goes to waste in Cuba

The problem is, none of this is going to go away anytime soon.

"Stay young, stay connected to our traditions"

Debating is a waste of time, it's too late, you won't win, as the world is preparing us.

You will need to be responsible for your  actions.

In the UK, we need to protect our livelihoods and families, and build our way of life to benefit all the people. Or small farmers, shop owners, one man businesses will become extinct, as big corporations control who has a job and your choice of job.

Live Well

The best thing we can all do, is to switch off the TV and not to get caught up in a negative and bitter mindset.

Start thinking about what you can do to move on, things are not going to reverse back as we knew the world. We can all move on healthily and positively.

Take control of our own lives and don't get caught up in this negativity and madness, that we have been in for far too long and we can all start to live well.

Continue on the best we can, while livelihoods are being destroyed, we bring in a ghetto fix lifestyle to support the poor.

Visualise street food! Giving a little, will help the hungry and build a community to support each other. Or we will be increasing the long-term problem in order to continue large corporation power-positions and paychecks. Humans not only need housing, we need to feel that we have purpose.

Prep and get your house in order

Water - Food - Shelter

"Give what you can, get what your need"

  • Your money will have no real value as we see a shortage of the basics. So stock up by prepping and getting what you need instead of panic buying that will leave a shortage of necessary goods.
  • As the economies decline, information, DIY, knowledge, sustainability, skills, and survival will become more and more valuable than money. Build a community to exchange goods and services. Sharing knowledge on how to bake & grow is everything needed to thrive when the system collapses.
  • Get your house in order, and then you can help others.
  • Living a life we should be and not paying for over priced houses that keep us a slave to the system.

As the crisis rages on, and fault lines emerge in once-stable economies and societies, people all over the world are becoming more and more aware that something is wrong with our economic and political systems, and that minor tinkering is not the solution.

To inspire others towards action, we need to be able to clearly communicate the mechanisms and impacts of the global economy, and – even more importantly – the many benefits and synergistic elements of flourishing local economies. Teaching others starts with educating ourselves. It’s not an instant process; understanding complex systems (and how they relate to your local context) takes time and reflection. UBUNTU!!!

An anthropologist showed a game to the children of an African tribe.

He placed a basket of delicious fruits near a tree trunk and told them: The first child to reach the tree will get the basket.

When he gave them the start signal, he was surprised that they were walking together, holding hands until they reached the tree and shared the fruit!

When he asked them why you did that when every one of you could get the basket only for him!

They answered with astonishment: Ubuntu

"That is, how can one of us be happy while the rest are miserable?"

Ubuntu in their civilization means,

I am because we are.

Loyalty and success or failure as a group becomes more important than the goals or possibilities of any one individual.

We have much to learn from our native peoples around the world. Their truth shines a new way forward from the greed, manipulation and control that has become western society. Together we dream a new world into BEing.

Go make your life amazing and enrich it the best you can.

I grew up like that, I have always felt free and alive when I am in nature - At peace with the world and with oneself. I came to myself and realised: This is actually life!

Charging the power station from the leisure battery in my campervan or from 110 W solar panel. To be a little self-sufficient when wild camping. Also, allows me to charge laptop and the phone for working remotely on longer trips away.
